Can I sue my employer for firing me because I was injured on the job?

You may be able to take legal action if you believe your employer fired you because you were injured on the job. In Washington State, several laws protect workers from retaliation for workplace injuries, including workers’ compensation laws, Washington Law Against Discrimination (WLAD), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Your employer (or union) may have policies and procedures in place providing guidance for how to initiate an internal grievance process.

If you believe you were terminated for reasons related to an on-the-job injury, please contact our office to speak with an attorney.
